What do you enjoy most about your major? My favorite thing about my political science classes is how relevant to everyday life they are. Usually professors will include a current events portion at the beginning of lectures, or they’ll weave real-life occurrences into their presentations. It makes me feel up-to-date on what’s going on in the world around me, allows me to analyze important events, and shows me that what I’m studying really matters (something I find easy to lose sight of sometimes).
Why did you join UNA? Favorite Memory? I joined UNA kind of on a whim in the middle of Winter Quarter freshman year. I didn’t know anybody in the club at the time, but as I kept attending meetings I started to get really close with other club members. I now consider so many people in this club my close friends! My favorite UNA memory has to be going out to dinner with the Social and Events committee this year to celebrate being done with planning the SDG Fair. It was one of the most fun nights of this year :)
Extracurriculars? Kappa Delta Sorority, UCLA Chorale, Fellowship for International Service and Health (FISH)
Career goals and summer/post-graduate plans: I’m not exactly sure what I want to do for a career just yet, but I do know that I would really like to attend law school in the future!
Advice for Incoming Students and/or Continuing Students? The best advice I can give incoming students is to just follow your heart and do what makes you happy. Join clubs and organizations because they interest you and speak to you, even if they don’t have huge membership or a following on campus. Take GE classes that inspire you to get more out of your education, even if they are completely outside your major. Surround yourself with friends who uplift you and celebrate you for who you are. If you follow your heart and find people who inspire you with good energy, it’ll all work out alright :)
